About Thrift Store Reads

We're the small team behind Spines, an iPhone app that names every book in a photo of a shelf. We built it because we're thrift-store people ourselves — the kind who check the book section first and carry the tote bag just in case. This site collects everything we know about shopping used books well in the US.

How this site pays for itself

Simple: the Spines links are ours, and downloads support the site. That's it. There are no affiliate deals here and no paid placements, and no store — chain or otherwise — pays for coverage or gets special treatment. When we talk about thrift stores, we mean the whole category, not any particular brand.

Our promises

• No made-up facts. No fake statistics, invented store details, or reviews that didn't happen.
